The Spirit, also known as Rin Yamaoka, is one of the killers featured in Dead by Daylight. She was originally a young Japanese girl, having a job to try paying the debt of her family. One night, when she comes back home, she discovers her despaired and furious father trying to kill her mother. Rin tried to defend both her mother and herself, but to no avail. Before her death, Rin promised that she would make her father pay. The Entity, who had initially chosen to claim Rin's father, instead took Rin with them after discovering her lust for vengeance. She then became the killer called "the Spirit".
