Tags are labels that are assigned to individual characters, used to group them together.

Types of tags[]

The primary types of tags are the following:

  • CV: Refers to the actor(s) or voice actor(s) of the character, usually applied only to their original language and English.
  • Illustrator: Refers to the illustrator of the character. Note that individual art credits are usually applied picture-by-picture, rather than with a tag.
  • Birthday: Refers to the character's birthday.
  • Role: Refers to a character's role within the story, from Protagonist to Extra.
  • Species: Refers to a character's species.
  • Affiliation: Refers to any group(s) the character may belong to.
  • Look: Refers to how a character looks.
  • Fighting Style/Power: Refers to a character's powers and combat.
  • Region: Refers to where a character is from (fictional regions).
  • Sub-Series: Refers to if the character belongs in a sub-series of the main series.

There are additional custom categories of tags, which appear under Unclassified. These range from archetypes (Gentle Giant, Magical Girl) to tags about occupations. Within these categories, subcategories also exist; for example, CVs are subcategorized by their language.

Commands[]

When searching for tags, you should use the full tag name. For example, if you search "Animal", you will only get characters with the "Animal" tag and not characters with the tag "Animal Transformation". However, you can search "Animals" to get "Animal", and you can search "Hanazawa Kana" to get "Kana Hanazawa".

Tags can also have aliases.

$tag[]

Syntax: $tag <tag to search>

This will find all the characters with this tag. Example: $tag Cat

  • For multiple tags, separate them by a $. Example: $tag Cat $ Kana Hanazawa
  • To filter by series, add the = sign before. For multiple series, separate them with a $. Example: $tag Re:Zero = Cat Person
  • You can use flags with this command to further filter your results. Example: $tagw Pink Hair will show only female characters with pink hair
  • To look up the definition of a tag, if it has one, use $tag? <tag name>. If a tag has a definition, it will tell you when you view the main tag.

$alltags[]

Abbreviation: $at

The full list of existing tags and their number of characters.

  • Use $alltags <category name> to filter by categories or subcategories
    • Using $tag can also return results from a category under certain circumstances.
  • Use $alltags <number> to filter by a minimum number of characters
  • Use $alltags <category name> $ <number> to filter by both category/subcategory and number
  • Use $ats for a DM
  • Use $atb to hide the tags and show just categories (and subcategories under Animal, CV, and Look)
    • $atb+ will also show subcategories under all sections

$ime[]

Similar to $im, shows a character's information, including their tags.

Example: $ime Rem

You can also use $ime+ to display just the tags of the character without the embed (and information like images, ranks, series, etc).

e flag[]

For more information, see Flags.

The e flag can be used to filter other lists by tags (for example, $mme, $imae, $wle)

  • e: Only display character matching your tag(s).
  • e-: Only display characters who don't have a tag.
  • e+: Display the number of tags for each characters.
  • e=: Sort by number of tags.

It can also be combined with the i flag to see the tags on the characters' cards (for example, $imaie)

Guidelines[]

  • Only authorized users may create new tags. When creating a new tag, capitalize each word.
  • Use the occidental (western) order for real people such as voice actors: first name goes first (Kana Hanazawa and not Hanazawa Kana).
  • Don't use the plural when not needed (the tag is Dragon, not Dragons)
  • Most tags are about the main appearance(s). For example, don't use the Cat tag for someone who turned into a cat for just an episode.
  • Tags are not aliases for the character nor aliases for the series. They have to be relevant and not too long.
  • Usually, do not add a tag if only one or two characters can have this tag (including future characters).
  • Link a source if the tag is not obvious.
  • Tags may not contain spoilers.

Specific Guidelines[]

  • Slurs cannot be tags.
  • No joke tags including "sus", "impostor", etc.
  • No nationality or IRL race tags.
  • No "Dead" tag, as it would be too spoilery (however, "Posthumous Character" exists for characters that are already dead at the beginning of the series and don't come back)
  • No "Overpowered" tag.
  • No genital tags.
  • IRL people appearance tags:
    • Absolutely no offensive tags. Even if the person in question is ok and encourages the description.
    • Limited to highly iconic and easily recognizable elements.
    • No breast tags.
    • No hair/Eye color or similar.
    • Should be properly discussed and approved by multiple mods.
    • If an IRL person assumes a fictional persona or character, such as Utaites, tagging the appearance of that character is okay.
  • Tags that are controversial and primarily serve to be disabled (if disabling by tags is going to be implemented) are no longer allowed, regardless of whether IRL characters can be tagged with it or not.
