Character Suggestions

Official character suggestions for Mudae take place on the Mudae World server routinely. These are how new characters are added.

On a day of character suggestions, the character suggestion channels 1 through 7 (for normal fictional characters), the sfw character suggestions channel (for minors), as well as the special characters suggestion channel (for real people, vtubers, memes, etc.) will open up during two different time periods. There, users of the bot can submit forms for up to two characters they want to add to the bot. Alts are not allowed, but you can ask your friends to help.

To view the most recent character update, you can use the command $mm update.

This form must be filled out for each character you want to suggest.

Name

Character names should be in Western order (given name first, family name last). Though this is not explicitly stated, characters from Chinese media usually do not follow this rule.

You cannot submit aliases during this period. Just choose their main name.

It's also important to check if the name is already in use, you can check this by using the $al command. If it is, add a bracket to the name indicating its series. It can always be polled later if the community feels it's more deserving of the unbracketed name.

Gender

Gender should either be Male, Female or Both.

It doesn't matter if character has both genders, no gender or their gender is unknown, you need to suggest them with "Gender: Both"

Type

Type refers to the rolls type (animanga, game or both). A character is usually animanga unless they originate from a game.

When suggesting characters from Visual Novels, if they have a notable anime adaptation, their type should generally be set to animanga, unless both the anime and the VN are equally popular.

Image

Image links must be 225x350 px (9:14) and follow other image rules (no fanart, no black & white manga/comics, no distortion/stretching, no transparent backgrounds, no real life faces, no integrated text, no major plot spoilers, no gifs, no nudity nor sexual positions, no swimsuit nor any kind of lewd for underaged characters). A full list of guidelines can be seen on the Mudae server.

You can only submit one image per character during this suggestion period. Do not put an album link (recognizable by the /a/ or /gallery/ part in the link), the imgur link must be a direct link.

Source

Your source must prove that your image is official. A source is also useful if your character isn't regular. It's recommended to enclose your source in < > brackets so that it doesn't embed a link.

Note

You can add an optional note with a line labelled "note:" if you think it's needed, for example to clarify the nature of a new series or to explain that the black/white style of your pic is intentional. For new series, Note is often used to indicate the series is western so that it will go in the western toggle.

Always assume that the mods know nothing about the series you're adding. If you have things that would look sketchy, add a note to explain your case. Example: Your characters being clones of each other and looking like the same person, that is fine but you need to inform the mods.

Special case rules

Characters suggested must follow these rules.

• Two or more beings can be added as the same character under certain circumstances. If they share a soul, if they share a name, if they are absolutely always together and are considered one single being by their series' rules. As long as they share a mind they can still be added as the same being even if they have different names. These cases are usually complicated, it's best to ask if they are okay first
• Concept art characters are not allowed, they need to be a proper character who appears in the series itself
• Meme characters need to be very popular in order to be added and they are often rejected, you can use fanart for them but you need to credit the artist
• Youtubers need to have at least 1 million subscribers to be considered, and even then they may be rejected. If you're adding them from a game they are in they need to play a major role in it, not just a cameo. As of lately Youtubers have been rejected a lot more, suggest at your own risk
• Vtubers need to have at least 75,000 subscribers (Youtube) or followers (Twitch) on either platform to be considered. These numbers cannot be combined. They may still be rejected even if they reach this number.
• Split personalities can be their own characters but they do need their own unique names
• Spoiler characters can be added as unique ones even if they are the same character as another person (to prevent people from getting spoiled)
• Nameless characters can be added with description names but they need to be very relevant to the series. Example: Protagonist (CC), Young Boy (MA)
• Duo characters can be added but only in very special cases and you need to make a note explaining the case in their form. It needs to be impossible to suggest the two individually, only if they have no unique names and identities is it fine to add duos
• You can add characters from upcoming series as long as the official names for the characters are confirmed
• Player characters are almost always allowed as long as they are not species. Skins for them are not considered different characters, no matter how much they change their appearance. Different classes are fine, as long as it's not specifically stated that it's still the same person changing classes
• Machines are allowed if they "have a soul". That refers to machines which have personality and are recognized as people by the other characters. The same applies to sentient objects
• Species are not allowed, but unique characters who have the name of their species are fine.
  • Notable exceptions for the species rule are Pokémon and Monster Hunter.
• Pictures of characters in suits from real life shows can be added if the suit covers them up completely and you can't see any of the person

Additional rules which were restated for the May 2021 update include:

• The characters must be from a real series
• "Obscure shit" will not be added

The following characters are banned and will not be accepted:

• Hitler (in any form)
• Shoko Asahara
• Original Characters, they can't get in if they're just art, they need to be in some form of a series to get in, comics, animations, etc
• Body parts (stop suggesting Rin Tohsaka's thighs)
• Ebola-chan (has been rejected before)
• Corona-chan
• Bakugo's Friend
• Daddies/Mommies from "YO MAMA", they are species
• Ruru-chan
• Nevada-tan
• Characters from Sanders Sides

Up for Grabs

An ever-changing list of forms free to use by anyone submitting characters can be found in the #up-for-grabs channel in the server. That way, you don't have to make your own form if someone else already has. Feel free to search the channel for a character you want to add yourself.

Special suggest channel

During suggests, use the #special-character-suggests channel if at least on of your suggests is a "special suggest". A special suggest is any of the following:

• Virtual Youtubers
• Real-life people (singers, actors, politicians, celebrities, youtubers etc.)
• Characters from series that primarily consists of youtube content
• Anything related to music (example: characters from music videos or Vocaloids)
• Memes
• A character from an original live-action show that is not in the bot yet.
• Fan-created series
• Mascots (for example: food mascots)

These characters have a high rejection rate, so be sure to stick around to potentially rereview them if they didn't make the cut.

Series Completion Suggests

This channel is for suggesting characters between suggestion timelines, and is only open for established contributors to the bot to use. It is only for adding relevant characters to existing series. The series must have at least 3 missing relevant characters to be eligible for series completion.

Only ~700 new characters will be added per update through series completion suggests. Characters added in this way will be listed before the normal suggestion period to prevent them from being suggested normally.
