Azuma (AL) is a character in Azur Lane. She is member of Sakura Empire, and is the only large cruiser of the game. She requires 900 Sakura Empire research points to be unlocked, and requires more data collecting (along with Friedrich der Grosse) than other research ships. She is inspired by design B-65 cruisers, a family of Super Type A cruisers, never built due to different priorities (being aircraft carriers and little ships) and the collapse of Imperial Japan. Azuma is actually part of the collaboration with World of Warships.
As a playable character, Azuma reveals she is not good at torpedo warfare but was more designed for night battles. She never gets really angry, even if the commander mistreats her, she more worries about them. She is a very nice girl, wanting to get along with her fellow Sakura Empire members.
